Method
Preparing the Burger Patty
- 1
Prepare Black Beans
In a large bowl, drain and rinse the canned black beans. Use a fork or potato masher to mash them until smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.
- 2
Mix Ingredients
Add breadcrumbs, chopped onion, chopped bell pepper, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to the mashed black beans. If using, add the egg for better binding. Mix everything until well combined.
- 3
Shape Patties
Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a burger patty.
- 4
Chill (optional)
Refrigerate the patties for about 30 minutes if you have time. This helps them hold together better while cooking.
