Calamari Preparation

Prepare the Calamari
Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

Prepare the Coating
In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix well.

Coat the Calamari
Dip each calamari ring into the egg wash, then dredge them in the flour mixture until fully coated.

Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F (190°C).

Fry the Calamari
Fry the coated calamari in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Marinara Sauce Preparation

Sauté Garlic
In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic cloves and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Add the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, basil leaves, salt, and black pepper to the saucepan. Stir to combine.

Simmer the Sauce
Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
