Gravy Ingredients

Method

Prepare the Hashbrown Mixture

  1. 1

    Cook the Bacon

In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove from the skillet and let drain on paper towels. Once cooled, crumble into small pieces.

  2. 2

    Cook the Sausage

In the same skillet with the bacon drippings, add the sausage and cook until browned and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

  3. 3

    Sauté the Onion

Add diced onion to the skillet and sauté until translucent, about 3-5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Combine with Hashbrowns

Add the frozen hashbrowns to the skillet with the onions, bacon, and sausage. Stir well to combine and cook until the hashbrowns are golden brown and crispy, about 10-15 minutes.

Make the Gravy

  1. 5

    Prepare the Roux

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, whisk in the flour and cook for about 2 minutes until lightly browned.

  2. 6

    Add Milk

Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue to whisk until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 7

    Season the Gravy

Add salt and black pepper to the gravy, adjusting to taste. Keep warm until ready to serve.

Prepare Eggs and Toast

  1. 8

    Cook the Eggs

In a separate pan, fry or scramble the eggs to your liking.

  2. 9

    Toast the Bread

Toast the slices of bread until golden brown.

Assemble the Dish

  1. 10

    Combine and Serve

On a plate, layer the hashbrown mixture, top with shredded cheddar cheese, and drizzle with warm gravy. Serve with cooked eggs and toast on the side.
