Salad Base

Method

Preparing the Salad

  1. 1

    Prepare the Romaine Lettuce

Wash the romaine lettuce thoroughly under cold water. Remove any damaged or wilted leaves. Pat dry with a clean kitchen towel or spin in a salad spinner. Chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces and place in a large salad bowl.

  2. 2

    Add Croutons

Sprinkle the croutons over the chopped romaine lettuce in the salad bowl.

Making the Caesar Dressing

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients for Dressing

In a medium mixing bowl, add the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, minced garlic (finely chopped or pressed), lemon juice, grated Parmesan cheese, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 4

    Mix the Dressing

Whisk the ingredients together until the dressing is smooth and well combined. If the dressing is too thick, you can add a tablespoon of water or lemon juice to reach your desired consistency.

Assembling the Salad

  1. 5

    Combine Salad and Dressing

Pour the prepared Caesar dressing over the romaine lettuce and croutons in the salad bowl. Toss gently to coat the lettuce and croutons evenly with the dressing.

  2. 6

    Serve

Serve immediately on individual plates or in a large serving bowl. Optionally, you can garnish with additional Parmesan cheese or freshly cracked black pepper before serving.
