Beef and Sandwich Components

Method

Beef Preparation

  1. 1

    Roast the Beef

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Season the beef roast generously with salt and black pepper. Place it in a roasting pan and roast in the preheated oven for about 3 to 4 hours, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 135°F (57°C) for medium-rare. Remove from the oven and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before slicing thinly.

Sautéed Vegetables

  1. 2

    Sauté the Peppers and Mushrooms

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Slice the bell peppers into thin strips and add them to the skillet along with the sliced mushrooms. Season with salt and black pepper. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, until the vegetables are tender and slightly caramelized. Remove from heat and set aside.

Au Jus Preparation

  1. 3

    Make the Au Jus

In a saucepan, combine the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and let it cook for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Keep warm until ready to serve.

Assembling the Sandwich

  1. 4

    Assemble the French Dip Sandwich

Slice the artisan rolls in half. Layer the sliced roast beef on the bottom half of each roll, top with grilled onions, sautéed peppers, mushrooms, and a slice of Swiss cheese. Place the top half of the roll on each sandwich.

  2. 5

    Serve with Au Jus

Serve the assembled sandwiches with a small bowl of warm au jus for dipping. Enjoy your delicious Philly-style French dip!
