Cake Batter

Method

Preparation of Cake Batter

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until well blended.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.

Flavoring the Batter

  1. 4

    Add Blueberries

For blueberry cake, carefully fold in fresh blueberries into the batter.

  2. 5

    Add Strawberries

For strawberry cake, gently fold in diced strawberries into the batter.

  3. 6

    Add Bananas

For banana cake, mix in mashed ripe bananas into the batter.

  4. 7

    Add Apple Cinnamon

For apple cinnamon cake, add apple pie spice into the batter, mixing until just combined.

  5. 8

    Add Chocolate Chips

For chocolate chip cake, fold in chocolate chips into the batter.

Cooking on the Grill

  1. 9

    Preheat Grill

Preheat your grill to medium heat. Make sure the grates are clean and lightly oiled.

  2. 10

    Prepare Cake Batter

Pour the prepared batter into a greased baking dish suitable for grilling.

  3. 11

    Grill the Cake

Place the baking dish on the grill. Close the lid and cook for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  4. 12

    Let Cool

Once cooked, remove the dish from the grill and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
