Chicken Fried Steak

Eggs

Gravy (optional)

Method

Chicken Fried Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Breading

In a shallow bowl, combine flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Eggs

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined.

  3. 3

    Bread the Steaks

Dredge each cube steak in the flour mixture, then dip it in the egg mixture, and finally coat it again in the flour mixture. Ensure each steak is well coated.

  4. 4

    Fry the Steaks

In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the breaded cube steaks and fry until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Eggs

  1. 5

    Cook the Eggs

In the same skillet used for the steaks, reduce heat to medium. Add butter and let it melt. Crack the eggs into the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook to desired doneness (sunny-side up, over-easy, or scrambled).

Gravy (optional)

  1. 6

    Make the Gravy

In the same skillet after removing the steaks, add 1 cup of leftover flour from the breading. Whisk in the milk gradually, and cook over medium heat until thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
