In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

Combine Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, melted unsalted butter (let it cool slightly), and vanilla extract until smooth and fully incorporated.

Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures
Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Stir gently with a spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; some lumps are okay.
Cooking the Waffles

Preheat Waffle Iron
Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Cook Waffles
Lightly grease the preheated waffle iron with a little butter or non-stick spray. Pour an appropriate amount of batter onto the center of the waffle iron, close the lid, and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions (usually 4-6 minutes) until golden brown.

Once cooked, carefully remove the waffle from the iron. Serve immediately topped with warm maple syrup and a pat of butter.
