Juice the Lemons
Cut the fresh lemons in half and juice them using a citrus juicer or by hand to extract the juice. You should have about 1 cup of lemon juice.

Prepare the Mint
Rinse the fresh mint leaves under cold water. Pat them dry with a paper towel. Reserve a few sprigs for garnish and chop the rest finely.

Make the Mint Syrup
In a small saucepan, combine the chopped mint leaves with 1 cup of water and 1 cup of granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Bring it to a simmer and let it steep for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool.

Combine Ingredients
In a large pitcher, combine the lemon juice, cooled mint syrup, and 4 cups of cold water. Stir well to mix all the ingredients together.

Serve
Add the ice cubes to the pitcher or individual glasses. Pour the lemonade over the ice and garnish with reserved mint sprigs. Serve immediately.
