In a large bowl, combine the ground lamb or beef, minced garlic, grated onion, dried oregano, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
- 2
Shape the Meat
Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Drizzle olive oil over the top.
- 3
Cook the Meat
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake the meat loaf for about 30-35 minutes, or until cooked through and browned on the outside.
- 4
Slice the Meat
Once cooked, allow the meat to rest for a few minutes, then slice thinly to serve.
Preparing the Pita and Salad
- 5
Warm the Pita
Wrap the pita bread in foil and place it in the oven for the last 5 minutes of cooking the meat to warm it up.
- 6
Prepare the Salad
In a bowl, combine the chopped lettuce, diced tomato, diced cucumber, and sliced red onion. Crumble feta cheese on top.

On each plate, place half a pita, a serving of the sliced gyro meat, and either rice or French fries.
- 9
