Pasta

Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring 4-6 quarts of water to a rolling boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the boiling water.

  2. 2

    Cook the Linguine

Add the linguine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

  3. 3

    Reserve Pasta Water

Before draining the pasta, reserve about 1 cup of the pasta cooking water. This will be used to adjust the sauce consistency later.

  4. 4

    Drain the Pasta

Drain the cooked linguine in a colander and set aside.

Making the Sauce

  1. 5

    Melt the Butter

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter.

  2. 6

    Sauté Garlic

Add 4 minced garlic cloves to the melted butter and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

  3. 7

    Add Seasonings

Stir in 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes, and season with salt and pepper to taste.

  4. 8

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained linguine to the skillet with the garlic butter sauce. Toss to combine, ensuring the pasta is well coated.

  5. 9

    Add Reserved Pasta Water

Gradually add the reserved pasta water, a little at a time, tossing until the sauce reaches your desired consistency.

  6. 10

    Finish with Parsley and Lemon

Remove the skillet from heat and stir in 1 cup of chopped fresh parsley and 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. Toss again to combine.
