Method
For the Mozzarella Sticks
- 1
- 2
Bread the Cheese Sticks
Dip each mozzarella stick first into the flour, ensuring it is fully coated. Then, dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing excess to drip off. Finally, coat it with the breadcrumb mixture. Repeat with all mozzarella sticks.
- 3
Freeze the Sticks
Place the breaded mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes. This helps the cheese to firm up and prevents it from melting too quickly during frying.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to check the temperature for accuracy.
- 5
Fry the Mozzarella Sticks
Carefully add a few mozzarella sticks to the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and drain on paper towels.
For the Marinara Sauce
- 6
Prepare the Marinara Sauce
In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic cloves and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- 7
- 8
Simmer the Sauce
Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
- 9
Serve
Once the mozzarella sticks are fried and the marinara sauce is ready, serve the sticks hot with the sauce on the side for dipping.
