Method

Preparation of Ingredients

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Whisk together until evenly mixed.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, and melted unsalted butter until the mixture is smooth.

Cooking Pancakes

  1. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients bowl. Stir gently until just combined. Don't overmix; a few lumps are okay.

  2. 4

    Heat the Pan

Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease with butter or cooking spray.

  3. 5

    Cook Pancakes

Pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the heated skillet for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

  4. 6

    Serve

Serve pancakes warm with butter and maple syrup. Optional: Cook bacon or sausage in the skillet while the pancakes are cooking, and serve on the side.
