Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and prepare an 8-inch round cake pan by greasing it with butter and lining the bottom with parchment paper.
- 2
Melt the Chocolate and Butter
In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method) and stir until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
Mixing Ingredients

Combine Sugar and Eggs
In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and large eggs until the mixture is pale and slightly thickened.
- 4
- 5
Add Vanilla and Salt
Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt until fully incorporated.
Baking the Torte
- 6
Pour into Pan
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- 7
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly soft (it will firm up as it cools).
- 8
Cool and Remove
Remove the torte from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, carefully invert it onto a plate, removing the parchment paper.
Serving
- 9
Garnishing (Optional)
Dust the top of the torte with powdered sugar. Serve with fresh berries and a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.
- 10
Slice and Enjoy
Slice the torte into wedges and serve it at room temperature or slightly chilled.
