Pasta

Dublin Meat Sauce

Method

Cooking Mostaccioli

  1. 1

    Boil the Pasta

In a large pot, bring salted water to a rolling boil. Add the mostaccioli and cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Preparing Dublin Meat Sauce

  1. 2

    Cook the Meat

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

  2. 3

    Brown the Beef

Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.

  3. 4

    Combine Ingredients

Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes.

Preparing Marinara Sauce

  1. 5

    Sauté Garlic

In a separate saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 6

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in crushed tomatoes, fresh basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Combining and Serving

  1. 7

    Mix Pasta with Sauce

In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked mostaccioli with either the Dublin meat sauce or marinara sauce, mixing well to coat the pasta evenly.

  2. 8

    Serve

Serve hot, garnished with additional basil or grated cheese if desired.
