Cheese Sauce Base

Method

Making the Cheese Sauce

1

Melt the Butter

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter, stirring occasionally until fully melted.

2

Add Flour

Sprinkle the all-purpose flour over the melted butter and whisk continuously for about 2 minutes to create a roux, ensuring it doesn’t brown.

3

Incorporate Milk

Gradually add the whole milk to the roux, whisking constantly to prevent lumps from forming. Continue cooking for about 5 minutes, until the mixture thickens.

4

Add Cheeses

Reduce the heat to low and stir in the grated sharp cheddar cheese and softened cream cheese, mixing until both cheeses are completely melted and the sauce is smooth.

5

Season the Sauce

Stir in the Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika, mixing well to combine all ingredients thoroughly.

6

Serve

Remove the cheese sauce from heat and serve immediately with your favorite dishes, such as nachos, pasta, or vegetables.
