Pasta

Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil.

  2. 2

    Cook the Fettuccine

Add the fettucine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside, reserving about 1 cup of pasta water.

Making the Sauce

  1. 4

    Melt Butter

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter.

  2. 5

    Add Garlic

Once the butter is melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  3. 6

    Add Cream

Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally.

  4. 7

    Add Cheese and Seasoning

Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and grated nutmeg until the sauce is smooth and creamy.

  5. 8

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained fettuccine to the sauce, tossing to coat the pasta evenly. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.

Serving

  1. 9

    Plate the Fettuccine

Serve the fettuccine alfredo immediately, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
