Pasta

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot of salted boiling water, add the elbow macaroni. Cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Cheese Sauce

  1. 2

    Make the Roux

In a large saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the all-purpose flour and whisk continuously for about 1 minute until smooth and bubbly.

  2. 3

    Add Milk

Gradually whisk in 2 cups of milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue cooking until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 4

    Incorporate Cheeses

Remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, gruyère cheese, and grated parmesan cheese until fully melted and smooth.

  4. 5

    Season the Sauce

Add salt, black pepper, and paprika to the cheese sauce. Mix well to combine.

Combine and Bake

  1. 6

    Combine Pasta and Cheese Sauce

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked macaroni and cheese sauce. Stir until the pasta is well coated.

  2. 7

    Prepare Topping

In a small bowl, mix the bread crumbs with melted butter and chopped parsley.

  3. 8

    Assemble and Bake

Pour the macaroni mixture into a greased baking dish. Evenly sprinkle the bread crumb mixture on top. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.

Serving

  1. 9
