Method

Chopped Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patty

In a bowl, season the Angus ground beef with salt and black pepper. Shape into a patty about 1 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patty

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patty for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until it reaches your desired doneness. Remove from skillet and keep warm.

Mushroom Gravy

  1. 3

    Sauté Vegetables

In the same skillet, add butter over medium heat. Once melted, add chopped onion and sliced mushrooms. Sauté until onions are translucent and mushrooms are browned, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 4

    Add Garlic

Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for another minute until fragrant.

  3. 5

    Make the Gravy

Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer. In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Stir the slurry into the gravy and cook until thickened, about 2-3 minutes.

  4. 6

    Combine with Patty

Return the cooked patty to the skillet, spoon gravy over it, and keep warm.

Mashed Potatoes

  1. 7

    Cook Potatoes

In a large pot, add the cubed potatoes and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 8

    Mash Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Green Beans

  1. 9

    Prepare Green Beans

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add trimmed green beans, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 10

    Sauté Green Beans

Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beans are tender but still crisp.
