Method
Preparing the Fries
- 1
Cook the Fries
Preheat the oven according to the package instructions for the frozen French fries. Spread the fries on a baking sheet, drizzle with vegetable oil, and sprinkle with salt. Bake in the oven until golden and crispy, usually around 25-30 minutes, turning halfway through.
Making the Chili
- 2
Cook the Beef and Veggies
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
- 3
Add Remaining Ingredients
Stir in the canned diced tomatoes, kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, and salt. Bring to a simmer and let cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Assembling the Dish
- 4
Combine and Serve
Once the fries are cooked and the chili is ready, place the fries on a serving platter. Pour the chili over the fries evenly, then sprinkle the cheese on top. Allow the cheese to melt for a minute or two. Drizzle BBQ sauce and serve with ranch dressing on the side.
