Cooking Directions
- 1
Prepare the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth and thick. Let it rest for about 15 minutes.
- 2
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 3
Fry the Fish
Dip each haddock fillet into the batter, allowing the excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered fillets into the hot oil. Fry for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and flaky. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 4
Cook the French Fries
While the fish is frying, cook the frozen French fries according to the package instructions until golden and crispy.
- 5
Serve
Plate the fried haddock with the French fries. Serve with tartar sauce and lemon wedges on the side.
