Method
Tiramisu Preparation Steps
- 1
Make the Coffee Mixture
Brew the espresso coffee and let it cool. If using, mix in the coffee liqueur.
- 2
Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until creamy and pale. Add the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
- 3
Whip the Cream
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until combined.
- 4
Assemble the Tiramisu
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Layer half of the soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a rectangular dish. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
- 5
Repeat Layers
Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers on top of the mascarpone layer, then spread the remaining mascarpone mixture over the top.
- 6
Chill and Serve
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder.
