Method

Preparing the Steak

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Pat the ribeye steaks dry with paper towels. Rub each steak with olive oil, then season both sides generously with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Grill the Steak

Preheat your grill to high heat. Once hot, place the steaks on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached. Remove from the grill and let rest for 5 minutes.

Making the Chips

  1. 3

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the russet potatoes and cut them into thick wedges or chunks, approximately 1-inch thick.

  2. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping in a small piece of potato; it should sizzle immediately.

  3. 5

    Fry the Chips

Carefully add the potato wedges to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-7 minutes per batch, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  4. 6

    Season the Chips

While the chips are still hot, sprinkle with salt to taste. Serve hot alongside the grilled steak.
