Method

Brownie Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Melt Butter

In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugars

Stir in 1.5 cups of granulated sugar and 0.5 cups of brown sugar into the melted butter until well combined.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add 4 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 2 tsp of vanilla extract.

  5. 5

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 0.75 cups of unsweetened cocoa powder, and 0.5 tsp of salt.

  6. 6

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. If desired, fold in 1 cup of chocolate chips.

  7. 7

    Bake

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  8. 8

    Cool

Remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before cutting into squares.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve Brownies

Place a brownie square on a plate.

  2. 10

    Add Ice Cream

Top the brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Serve immediately.
