Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

Fill a large pot with water and add 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Cook Pasta

Once the water is boiling, add 200 grams of pasta. Cook according to the package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.

Making Tomato Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté Onions

In a large saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 1 medium chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.

  2. 5

    Add Garlic

Mince 3 cloves of garlic and add them to the saucepan. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  3. 6

    Add Tomatoes

Pour in 400 grams of canned tomatoes, crushing them with a spoon as you add them. Stir well.

  4. 7

    Season Sauce

Add 1 tablespoon of basil, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Stir to combine and let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes.

Combining

  1. 8

    Mix Pasta and Sauce

Once the sauce has simmered, add the drained pasta to the sauce. Toss well to combine, ensuring all pasta is coated.

  2. 9

    Serve

Serve hot, garnished with additional basil if desired.
