Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Shrimp

In a bowl, combine the raw shrimp with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Toss to coat the shrimp evenly with the seasoning. Let it marinate for about 15 minutes.

Batter Preparation

  1. 2

    Prepare the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, and baking powder. In a separate bowl, whisk together the cold water and egg. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until you achieve a smooth batter.

Frying

  1. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 4

    Fry the Shrimp

Dip each marinated shrimp into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered shrimp into the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove the shrimp and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serving

  1. 5

    Serve the Fried Shrimp

Arrange the fried shrimp on a serving platter. Garnish with lemon wedges and sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley. Serve immediately.
