Method
Cocktail
Build and stir
Add 1 oz gin, 1 oz Campari, 1 oz sweet vermouth, 0.25 oz Luxardo maraschino liqueur, 0.25 oz cherry-infused simple syrup and 2 dashes Angostura bitters into a mixing glass.
Fill the mixing glass with plenty of ice (large cubes preferred). Stir briskly for 20–30 seconds (about 20–30 full rotations) until the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted (target ~20–25% dilution).
Place a large clear ice cube or sphere into a chilled rocks glass. Strain the stirred cocktail over the ice using a Hawthorne or julep strainer.
Express an orange peel over the surface: hold peel skin-side down about 3 inches above the drink and give a quick tight twist to spray oils across the cocktail, then rub the peel along the glass rim and drop it in or set it on the edge.
Skewer 1–2 Luxardo cherries and rest them on the ice or drop one into the drink. Serve immediately.
Garnish & Cherry Preserves (optional homemade)
Make quick cherry preserves (optional)
Combine 1 cup pitted cherries, 0.25 cup granulated sugar, 2 tbsp water and 0.5 tsp lemon juice in a small saucepan over medium heat.
Bring to a gentle simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until cherries soften and syrup thickens slightly, 6–8 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool. Transfer to a jar and refrigerate. Use syrup and cherries to make cherry-infused simple syrup or as a garnish.
Cherry-infused simple syrup (quick method)
For 0.25 oz needed in the cocktail: combine 2 tbsp of the cherry preserves syrup (or 2 tbsp commercial cherry syrup) with 1 tbsp hot water to loosen. Chill before use. Alternatively, infuse a 1:1 sugar-water simple syrup with a handful of cherries for several hours, then strain.
If using store-bought Luxardo cherries, simply skewer and garnish as directed in the cocktail section.
Tools & Serving
Use a chilled rocks glass and large ice to keep the Club Cherry Negroni cold without over-dilution. Stirring rather than shaking preserves the silky texture appropriate to a spirit-forward drink.
Estimated garnish placement: one orange twist and one skewered Luxardo cherry perched on the ice or dropped into the drink for visual and flavor contrast.
