Cocktail

1

Prepare glass

Chill a coupe or a lowball glass by filling it with ice and cold water. Let sit while you build the cocktail (about 2–3 minutes), then discard the ice water and set the glass aside.

2

Muddle cucumber

Place 3 thin cucumber slices into a cocktail shaker. Gently muddle 6–8 times — just enough to release fresh cucumber juice and aroma without turning it into a puree.

3

Combine ingredients

Add 2 oz Hendrick's Gin, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz elderflower liqueur, and 0.25 oz simple syrup to the shaker with the muddled cucumber. Add approximately 1 cup of ice to the shaker.

4

Shake

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is very cold to the touch and properly diluted.

5

Double strain

Strain the cocktail through a Hawthorne strainer and a fine-mesh strainer into the chilled glass filled with 1/2 cup fresh ice (for a rocks presentation) or directly into the chilled coupe if serving neat. Double-straining removes small cucumber bits and seeds.

6

Top (optional)

If you prefer a lighter, slightly effervescent drink, top with 1 oz club soda. Gently stir once to integrate.

7

Garnish and serve

Thread a cucumber ribbon or wheel onto the rim or float inside the glass. Add a mint sprig if desired. Serve immediately.
