Method

Preparing the Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ground Beef

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Use your hands to mix the ingredients gently until they are just combined.

  2. 2

    Shape the Patty

Divide the mixture into equal halves and shape each half into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.

Cooking the Patty

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patty

Place the patty on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until browned, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium-rare. Add cheese on top during the last minute of cooking if desired.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare the Bun

Toast the hamburger bun lightly on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 6

    Build the Burger

Place the cooked patty on the bottom half of the bun. Top with lettuce, tomato slices, pickle slices, ketchup, and mustard as desired. Place the top half of the bun over the toppings.
