Method
Marinating the Chicken
- 1
Prepare the Marinade
In a large bowl, combine buttermilk, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 2
Marinate the Chicken
Add the boneless chicken thighs to the marinade, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
Breading and Frying
- 3
Prepare the Breading
In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
- 4
Bread the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing the excess to drip off. Dredge each thigh in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to ensure even coating.
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat the cooking oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 6
Fry the Chicken
Carefully add the breaded chicken thighs to the hot oil. Fry for 6-8 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Assembling the Sandwich
- 7
Prepare the Buns
Toast the burger buns lightly on a skillet or in the oven.
- 8
Layer the Ingredients
On the bottom half of each toasted bun, layer with a lettuce leaf, fried chicken thigh, tomato slices, pickles, and red onion slices.
- 9
Complete the Sandwich
Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
Serving the Sides
- 10
Prepare the Sides
Choose either French fries or coleslaw to serve alongside the sandwich. Cook or prepare according to package instructions or your preferred recipe.
