Calamari

Banana Peppers

Method

Prepare Calamari

  1. 1

    Clean the Calamari

Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Coat Calamari

Dredge the calamari rings in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.

Fry Calamari

  1. 4

    Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Fry Calamari

Carefully add the coated calamari rings to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.

  3. 6

    Drain Excess Oil

Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried calamari from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain.

Prepare Banana Peppers

  1. 7

    Prepare Peppers

Cut the tops off the banana peppers and remove the seeds. Slice them into rings.

  2. 8

    Sauté Peppers

In a small skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the banana pepper rings and sprinkle with salt. Sauté for about 5 minutes until they soften slightly.

Serve

  1. 9

    Plate the Dish

Arrange the fried calamari on a serving platter and top with the sautéed banana peppers.

  2. 10

    Serve with Dip

Serve immediately with a side of Thai sweet chili sauce for dipping.
