Steak
White Gravy
Method
Preparing the Steak
- 1
Tenderizing the Steak
Using a meat mallet or rolling pin, gently pound the beef cube steaks to about 1/2 inch thickness. This helps to tenderize the meat.
- 2
Coating the Steak
In a shallow dish, combine the flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. Dip each steak first into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and back into the flour mixture to coat thoroughly.
Frying the Steak
- 3
Heating the Oil
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers. You can test the oil by dropping a small amount of flour into it; if it sizzles, it's ready.
- 4
Frying the Steak
Carefully place the coated steaks into the hot oil. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the steaks and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
