Method

Cooking Eggs

  1. 1

    Prepare the Eggs

In a non-stick skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Crack the eggs into the skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Cook to your desired doneness (sunny side up, over easy, etc.). Remove from heat and set aside.

Cooking Protein

  1. 2

    Cook the Protein

For the bacon, place the slices in a skillet over medium heat. Cook until crispy, turning occasionally, about 6-8 minutes. For sausage, cook links in the same skillet until browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from skillet and place on a paper towel to drain.

Preparing Carbohydrates

  1. 3

Cook Grits or Roasted Red Potatoes

If using grits, bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan, add grits, and reduce heat. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until thickened, stirring frequently. If using potatoes, chop them into small cubes, toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper, and roast in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden and tender.

Final Assembly

  1. 4

    Assemble the Breakfast Plate

On a large plate, arrange the cooked eggs, your choice of bacon or sausage, and either grits or roasted red potatoes. Serve with a warm buttermilk biscuit or a slice of toast on the side.
