Fries

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thick strips (about 1/4 inch) to create hand-cut fries.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Soak the cut fries in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes. This removes excess starch and helps achieve a crispier texture.

  3. 3

    Dry the Potatoes

After soaking, drain the water and pat the fries dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep fryer or large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a portion of the dried fries to the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle with sea salt, paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper to taste. Toss to ensure even coating.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the hand-cut fries immediately while hot and crispy.
