Method

Prepare the Grits

  1. 1

    Cook the Grits

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Stir in the stone ground grits and salt. Reduce heat to low and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 20-25 minutes until thickened. Stir in milk, butter, and cheddar cheese until melted and creamy. Set aside.

Cook the Shrimp

  1. 2

    Sauté the Shrimp

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant. Add the shrimp, paprika, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 3-5 minutes until shrimp are pink and cooked through. Stir in chopped parsley before removing from heat.

Prepare the Corn Bread

  1. 3

    Bake the Corn Bread

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). In a bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and melted butter. Combine wet and dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Pour into a greased baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

Serve

  1. 4

    Plate the Dish

Serve the creamy stone ground grits topped with sautéed Gulf shrimp and a side of warm cornbread.
