Mashed Potatoes

Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Sprinkle both sides of the ribeye steaks generously with salt and black pepper. Let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to allow the seasoning to penetrate the meat.

  2. 2

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers. Make sure the pan is hot enough that a drop of water sizzles when it hits the surface.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Add the seasoned ribeye steaks to the pan. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them to achieve a good sear.

  4. 4

    Add Aromatics and Flip

After 5 minutes, add the garlic cloves (smashed) and fresh rosemary to the pan. Flip the steaks and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium-rare, or longer if desired.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steak

Transfer the cooked steaks to a plate and cover loosely with foil. Let them rest for about 5 minutes before slicing.

Mashed Potatoes Preparation

  1. 6

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes into equal-sized chunks. Place them in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil over high heat.

  2. 7

    Cook until Tender

Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and cook the potatoes for about 15-20 minutes, or until they can be easily pierced with a fork.

  3. 8

    Drain and Mash

Drain the potatoes in a colander, then return them to the pot. Add the butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

  4. 9

    Serve

Spoon the mashed potatoes onto plates and serve alongside the sliced ribeye steaks.
