Prepare the Ingredients
Slice the red onion thinly and shred the cheddar cheese.

Sauté the Onions
In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the sliced red onion and sauté until they are soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.

Melt the Cheese
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the meat mixture, cover, and let it melt for about 2-3 minutes.

Toast the Bread
In a separate pan, melt the remaining tablespoon of butter. Toast the rye bread slices on both sides until golden brown.

Assemble the Sandwich
Place the sautéed beef and turkey mixture on two slices of toasted rye bread. Drizzle with pub sauce and top with the remaining slices of rye bread.

Serve
Cut the sandwich in half and serve immediately with extra pub sauce on the side.
