Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all the ingredients: corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, rye bread, Thousand Island dressing, and butter.

  2. 2

    Warm the Sauerkraut

In a small saucepan, heat the sauerkraut over medium heat until warmed through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess liquid if necessary.

Assembly

  1. 3

    Assemble the Sandwich

Spread 1 tablespoon of Thousand Island dressing on one side of each slice of rye bread.

  2. 4

    Layer the Ingredients

On two slices of bread (dressing side up), layer the corned beef, warm sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese. Top with the remaining slices of bread, dressing side down.

Grilling

  1. 5

    Grill the Sandwich

In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Add the remaining butter as needed.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve

Once grilled to perfection, remove the sandwiches from the skillet, slice in half, and serve warm with extra Thousand Island dressing on the side.
