Patty Melt Ingredients
Method
Directions for Patty Melt
- 1
Prepare the Onions
Slice the onion into thin rings. In a skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of butter and sauté the onions until they are soft and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- 2
Cook the Burger
Form the ground beef into a patty, season with salt and pepper, and cook it in the skillet over medium-high heat for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired doneness.
- 3
Assemble the Patty Melt
On one slice of rye bread, spread 1 tablespoon of Thousand Island dressing. Place the cooked burger patty on top, followed by the caramelized onions and two slices of cheddar cheese. Top with another slice of rye bread.
- 4
Grill the Sandwich
In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of butter. Once melted, place the assembled sandwich in the skillet. Grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- 5
Serve
Remove the sandwich from the skillet, slice in half, and serve hot with additional Thousand Island dressing on the side if desired.
