Preparation Directions
1. Prepare the Potatoes
Peel and chop the russet potatoes into small cubes. Boil them in a pot of salted water until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and let them cool slightly.
2. Mash the Potatoes
Using a potato masher or fork, mash the boiled potatoes until smooth. Let them cool completely.
3. Mix Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until well combined.
4. Form the Tater Tots
Take small portions of the mixture and roll them into small cylindrical shapes, approximately 1 inch long.
5. Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
6. Fry the Tater Tots
Fry the tater tots in batches for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
7. Serve
Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
