Method
Preparation Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Breading
In a bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the beer until smooth. Let the batter rest for 15 minutes.
- 2
Prepare the Fish
Pat the haddock fillets dry with paper towels. If making Cajun broiled fish, rub the fillets with Cajun seasoning and set aside.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the Fish
Dip each haddock fillet into the batter, allowing the excess to drip off. Carefully place the fillets into the hot oil and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 5
Prepare the Slaw
In a large bowl, mix the coleslaw mix with mayonnaise until well combined. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- 6
Cook the Mac Salad
Cook the macaroni pasta according to package instructions. Drain and rinse under cold water. In a bowl, mix the cooked pasta with cheddar cheese and additional mayonnaise, salt, and pepper to taste.
- 7
Prepare the Potatoes
Cook the chosen potatoes (French fries or mashed) according to your preference.
- 8
Serve
Serve the fried haddock alongside coleslaw, macaroni salad, and your choice of potatoes.
