Method
Prepare the Burger Patty
- 1
Mix the Ingredients
In a medium bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined; do not overwork the meat.
- 2
Form the Patties
Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about ¾ inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
Cook the Patties

Add Cheese
After flipping, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patty reaches your desired level of doneness.
Assemble the Burger
- 6
Prepare the Buns
While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and lightly toast them on the grill or in a toaster.
- 7
Build the Burger
On the bottom half of each bun, layer the lettuce leaves, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, sliced tomato, pickles, and desired amounts of ketchup and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
