Method

Prepare the Patties

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the meat mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about ¾ inch thick.

Cook the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat Grill

Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Grill Patties

Cook the patties on the grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and close the grill lid to melt the cheese.

Sauté the Mushrooms

  1. 6

    Heat Oil

In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 7

    Add Vegetables

Add the sliced mushrooms and onions to the skillet. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until they are golden brown and tender.

  3. 8

    Season

Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Assemble the Burgers

  1. 9

    Prepare Buns

Toast the burger buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster, if desired.

  2. 10

    Layer Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf and a slice of tomato. Top with the grilled beef patty with melted Swiss cheese, followed by the sautéed mushrooms and onions.

  3. 11

    Finish with Condiments

Add ketchup and mustard to taste, then place the top half of the bun on each burger.
