Prepare the Water
In a medium-sized pot, add 4 cups of water and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat.

Cook the Hot Dogs
Once the water is boiling, carefully add the hot dogs. Allow them to cook for about 5-7 minutes until heated through.

Remove the Hot Dogs
Using tongs, remove the hot dogs from the pot and place them on a plate. Set aside.

Butter the Buns
Take the hot dog buns and spread butter evenly on the inside of each bun.

Grill the Buns
In a skillet or on a grill, place the buttered buns cut side down and grill them over medium heat for about 2-3 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.

Place Hot Dogs in Buns
Once the buns are grilled, place a hot dog into each bun.

Add Toppings
Top each hot dog with your choice of ketchup, mustard, relish, diced onions, or shredded cheese.
