Sirloin Steak Ingredients

Method

Sirloin Steak Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps in even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Pat the steak dry with paper towels. In a small bowl, mix together the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and fresh rosemary. Rub the steak on both sides with olive oil, then generously season it with the spice mixture.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Pan

Heat a cast-iron skillet or heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes until it is very hot.

  4. 4

    Cook the Steak

Add the seasoned steak to the hot pan. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until the internal temperature reaches 130°F (54°C). Adjust the time based on your preferred doneness.

  5. 5

    Add Butter

In the last minute of cooking, add the butter to the pan. Use a spoon to baste the melted butter over the steak while it finishes cooking.

  6. 6

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked to your liking, remove the steak from the pan and let it rest on a cutting board for about 5-10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  7. 7

    Serve

Slice the steak against the grain, serve it hot, and enjoy with your favorite sides.
