Naked Beef and Bison Burger

Method

Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meat Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and ground bison. Sprinkle salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder over the meat. Use your hands to gently mix the ingredients together until they are evenly combined. Be careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the meat mixture into four equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty approximately ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb; this helps the burger cook evenly and prevents puffing.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

If using a grill, preheat it to medium-high heat. If using a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.

  4. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or in the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes on the other side for medium-rare. Adjust cooking time to achieve your desired doneness.

  5. 5

    Serve

Remove the burgers from the grill or skillet and let them rest for a few minutes. Serve them naked or with your choice of toppings such as lettuce, tomato, and onion.
