Chili and Toppings

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Cook the Bison

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the bison ground meat and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Break it apart with a spatula as it cooks.

  2. 2

    Add Vegetables

Once the bison is browned, add the diced red onion and chopped jalapeños to the skillet. Sauté for another 3-4 minutes until the onion becomes translucent.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Stir in the canned diced tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Let the mixture simmer on low heat for about 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Ciabatta

While the chili simmers, slice the ciabatta bread in half and toast it lightly in the oven or on a grill until golden brown.

  5. 5

    Serve the Chili

Once the chili is ready, spoon it generously over the toasted ciabatta halves. Top with shredded pepper jack and cheddar cheese.

  6. 6

    Garnish

Finish with a dollop of sour cream on top of the chili and serve immediately.
