Soda Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Make the Simple Syrup

In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of cane sugar and 4 cups of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is completely dissolved.

  2. 2

    Add Flavors

Once the syrup is clear and all the sugar has dissolved, remove it from the heat. Stir in 2 teaspoons of natural flavors (you can choose a combination of black cherry, vanilla, and orange depending on your preference) and 1 teaspoon of citric acid for a slight tang.

  3. 3

    Cool the Syrup

Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature. You can speed up this process by placing the saucepan in an ice bath.

  4. 4

    Combine with Carbonated Water

In a large pitcher, combine the cooled syrup with 2 cups of carbonated water. Stir gently to mix without losing too much carbonation.

  5. 5

    Adjust Color (Optional)

If desired, add food coloring to achieve the desired hue of your soda. Start with a few drops and mix until you reach the preferred color.

  6. 6

    Serve

Pour the soda into glasses filled with ice. Enjoy your homemade Boylan® Cane Sugar Soda!
