Method

Preparation of Topping

  1. 1

    Chop the Tomatoes

Dice the Roma tomatoes into small pieces and place them in a mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Prepare Garlic

Mince the garlic cloves finely and add them to the bowl with the diced tomatoes.

  3. 3

    Add Basil

Chop the fresh basil leaves and mix them into the bowl with tomatoes and garlic.

  4. 4

    Season the Mixture

Add balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper to the mixture and stir well to combine. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Preparation of Bread

  1. 5

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. 6

    Slice the Bread

Cut the baguette or Italian bread into 1/2 inch slices.

  3. 7

    Brush with Olive Oil

Arrange the bread slices on a baking sheet and brush each slice lightly with olive oil.

  4. 8

    Toast the Bread

Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and toast for about 5-7 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and crispy.

Assembly

  1. 9

    Top the Bread

Remove the toasted bread from the oven and let it cool slightly. Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto each slice.

  2. 10

    Serve

Serve immediately while the bread is warm and the topping is fresh.
