Base

Method

Base Preparation

1

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

2

Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add milk, melted unsalted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

3

Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Do not over-mix; a few lumps are okay.

Cooking

4

Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a baking dish or line it with parchment paper.

5

Bake

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

6

Cool

Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Topping

7

Prepare Toppings

While the base cools, prepare the toppings by slicing the fresh strawberries and whipping the cream until soft peaks form.

8

Assemble

Once the base is cool, slice it into squares. Top each square with sliced strawberries, a dollop of whipped cream, and a sprinkle of powdered sugar.
